HAVE YOU OR A LOVED ON BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. ARE YOU CONSIDERING HIRING AN ATTORNEY. HERE ARE SOME QUESTIONS TO ASK AND SOME POINTERS
There are several pitfalls you want to avoid if you hire an attorney. These questions can make sure that does not happen to you.
First: As to meet with the attorney who will be assigned to represent you before you sign a contract. You want to be sure that you have confidence – good vibes – with you attorney. You cannot evaluate this issue without meeting him/her. Once you sign the contract there can be monetary penalties in withdrawing. You want to know if the assigned attorney, not just the firm, is someone you want to work with.
Second: Ask that attorney how much litigation experience they have. It is not enough to know when they were admitted to the bar. You want to know if they are willing to fight for a good result for you. In this regard, ask the attorney what percentage of the cases they handle goes to litigation. This is very important. Do not let them waffle on this issue.
Third: Ask if they ever discount their fees, and, if so, what are the factors they consider. You do not want an attorney whose major issues is their own fee. Unfortunately, there are a lot of them out there for whom the fee is the reason for the representation.
If you call my firm, you will speak with me. I am the only attorney here. I have one employee, Priscilla, a licensed paralegal who has been with me for over 25 years. I have been an attorney for over 50 years, so she has been with me a little over half my career. We work well together, but we never forget that you would be retaining me, not just the my firm.
